This very rare 1920
Colson Wheelchair was bought in a "junk store" several years ago
and was thought by most
to be irreparable. A well-known Rehabilitation Engineer in Virginia bought
the
piece, and began the meticulous process of disassembling the rusty chassis
to determine which components would have to be repaired, refinished, made from "scratch", etc. The beautiful 1" thick
White Oak Seat Frame, Back, and Footplates were sanded to perfection and 10 coats of hand-polished
lacquer was applied. A master chair-caner was employed to replace
all of the intricate patterned caning latticework in the back, seat, and leg
rests. Four coil springs offer absolute shock absorption, the back reclines
fully, with infinitely adjustable elevating footrests, to make this the
"very best of MODERN wheelchairs" All metal was blasted, primed and
re-painted as per original specs. New bearings, new tires, and a new goal; to perhaps
make it
into a museum, the theater, or even movies! COLSON estimates the
value of this beautifully restored wheelchair at $2,500-$3,000. Will accept
best offer over $1,600 plus shipping. Call Dave in Virginia (540)337-3764
for additional info or photos.

This museum wheelchair, or
classic antique wheelchair might be used as a prop in movies. It is an old
wheelchair with the big wheels in front, small wheels in back, Antique
